Superstars and legends in the making

In the NFL today, young talent has the ability to turn franchises around and dominate in the league from the second they get drafted. On both sides of the ball, the league gains more talent each year, with young players quickly breaking out and proving their worth. Whether it is superstar quarterbacks, electrifying wide receivers and running backs, or game-changing defensive players, the league is in no shortage of rising stars.

For a player to be considered young, they are often still on their rookie contract, and only been in the league for a few seasons. The following list contains five of the best offensive players under 25.

Drake Maye (QB, New England Patriots, 23 years old)

In his first year as a starting quarterback, Drake Maye led his team to the Super Bowl and finished second in MVP voting. His performance all season long was nothing short of extraordinary, and is only going to keep improving as Maye becomes more experienced.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba (WR, Seattle Seahawks, 23 years old)

JSN capped off a historic season, where he won Offensive Player of the Year (OPOY) and had 1793 receiving yards, by winning the Super Bowl. His impact on the Seahawks offense was immeasurable, and is bound to increase as his connection with his quarterback grows.

Caleb Williams (QB, Chicago Bears, 24 years old)

The second-year quarterback had a remarkable season, in which he led the Bears from 5-12 in 2024 to an 11-6 record. Caleb Williams’ uncanny ability to keep plays alive makes him special and gives him sky-high potential for his career.

4) Puka Nacua (WR, Los Angeles Rams, 24 years old)

The fifth-round draft pick out of BYU has exceeded all expectations since entering the league, cementing himself as one of the best WRs. He had a league-leading 129 receptions and was the runner-up for OPOY. Puka’s physicality and playmaking set him apart and make him a dangerous receiving threat every snap.

5) Bijan Robinson (RB, Atlanta Falcons, 24 years old)

Bijan Robinson seemingly makes a spectacular play every time he touches the ball. With over 2000 scrimmage yards last season, he has already cemented himself as one of the best running backs in the league today.

Each of these players brings a unique flair and impact on their respective teams. On the other side of the ball, many young defensive players are creating havoc in their own way. The following list has five of the best defensive players younger than 25.

1) Will Anderson Jr (DE, Houston Texans, 24 years old)

One of the main factors that made the Texans’ defense so dangerous last season was Will Anderson Jr, and the devastating effect he had on every quarterback he went against. He had 36 pressures last season, and will continue to be a threat for every opposing quarterback.

2) Christian Gonzales (CB, New England Patriots, 23)

Despite the loss, his performance in the Super Bowl is a testament to the type of player Christian Gonzales is. Instead of chasing interceptions, Gonzales focuses on shutting down opposing WRs, allowing a completion percentage of only 53%.

3) Kyle Hamilton (S, Baltimore Ravens, 24)

Hamilton’s success stems from his versatility, as he effectively plays in coverage, stops the run, and even blitzes for the Ravens defense. Already, he is widely considered to be one of the best safeties in the league, an impressive feat for only a 24-year-old.

4) Jalen Carter (DT, Philadelphia Eagles, 24)

As a 313-pound lineman, Carter is remarkably praised for his quickness, which makes him a cut above others at his position. He stops the run and applies pressure at a high level, and was a centerpiece in the Eagles’ 2025 Super Bowl win.

5) Carson Schwesinger (LB, Cleveland Browns, 22)

The Defensive Rookie of the Year, Carson Schwesinger, led all rookies in tackles and tackles for loss, emerging as a standout player on the Browns’ defense. Despite his team’s overall struggle, his season was very impressive and likely indicative of the type of player he will be.

Overall, these young stars add excitement and style to the game, and are going to continue to dominate for years to come as more waves of young talent follow them.
