The might of the 2024 Philadelphia Eagles was put on full display during their Super Bowl Matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on February 9th, 2025. Before they even reached the Super Bowl, the Eagles had shown themselves to be a formidable team. Furthermore, they were back for revenge as they had lost to the Chiefs in the 2023 Super Bowl 35-38.

As a team, the Eagles had talented players at every position as they finished with a 14-3 record. Firstly, the Eagles had running back Saquon Barkley, who broke the single-season (including postseason) rushing record with 2,504 yards, which was previously held by Terrell Davis, who had 2,476 yards. Next, the offensive line allowed the running back two yards before contact, a ludicrous stat line. This unit was composed of top-10 lineman by position: Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, and Mekhi Becton. While the Eagles ranked 29th in passing yards in the league, the double threat of quarterback Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley allowed them to secure the 2nd best ranking for rushing yards, only beaten by the Baltimore Ravens duo of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. Their pass-catchers also ended with solid numbers, with AJ Brown getting 1,079 yards and 67 receptions, Devonta Smith getting 833 yards and 68 receptions, and Dallas Goedert getting 496 yards and 42 receptions.

Defensively, the Eagles were ranked 2nd in the NFL while only allowing 17.8 points per game, just barely beaten by the Los Angeles Chargers’ 17.7 points allowed per game. The defensive roster was star-studded with notable players being Zack Baun, Quinyon Mitchell, Reed Blankenship, Josh Sweat, and Cooper DeJean.

With the record-breaking stats in the regular season, their postseason performance was just as impressive. The Eagles were the youngest team ever in the Super Bowl as they played 43 players in their 20s. Impressively, the Eagles scored 143 points in the postseason, crushing the past NFL record of 131 set by the 1994 San Francisco 49ers. This shows consistency as they defeated the Washington Commanders by an astounding 55-23 score. In the superbowl itself the Eagles dominated with a third quarter score of 34-6 before the Chiefs got a couple meaningless touchdowns to make the final score 40-22. They got an interception or “pick” and a “pick-six” on defense while the offense steam-rolled a strong Chiefs defense.

With regular season records, a star-studded cast, and perfect postseason run, the 2024 Philadelphia Eagles will go down as one of the most unstoppable teams in NFL history.
